Basil Hayden Toast is a uniquely crafted 80 proof whiskey consisting of an entirely new mash bill, replacing the traditional rye grain with brown rice, which adds a hint of sweetness and a touch less spice with increased depth of flavor that comes from secondary aging in a toasted then flash-charred oak barrel. Rather than charring the barrel with open flame, the toasting process exposes the barrel to a long and gentle heat at a level proprietary to Basil Hayden. The softer notes from the Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey receive the flavors from the toasted barrels, which is then blended back with non-Toasted bourbon to add complex flavor grounded in sweet vanilla, complemented by rich roasted notes. Perfect sipped and savored neat or on the rocks with close company.

In contrast to their prior mobile-unit hole-ups and home-taped fryers Barbarian Dust the third album from Lavender Flu marks the band s first raid of a proper studio. Extending the formalities further the conceptual impetus for the sessions stems from a collective meditation on cosmic biker rock. Smokey sure-and that peculiar chunky ether seeps into the resulting collection-but it all ultimately serves to a liquid frame a set of parameters imposed purely to burst through. Compositionally and thematically Barbarian Dust alternates between hope and anger each idealized a sway thoughtfully achieved through an often-soaring occasionally busted version of rock heaviness (without ever approaching Heavy Rock thank heaven / hell). In every sense of the word it s their most aggressive work to date.Barbarian Dust collects songs that move in and out of wobble and explosion each pushing forever forward just as the composers themselves do. Galaxies past cool-but-copyist trips Lavender Flu-brothers Chris and Lucas Gunn Scott Simmons and Ben Spencer-slaughter the trivial in favor of a newer deeper more meaningful sound indifferent to any path other than their own. Time to transform yet again. -Mitch Cardwell.

Introducing RoadStock Rye: The world’s first ever finished-on-the-road whiskey. Once again we have broken down the boundaries of what’s possible in the whiskey world. WhistlePig RoadStock Rye was created on the road less traveled and is the first ever All-American barrel double finished rye. In collaboration with Jordan Winery and Firestone Walker Brewery, the epic journey of RoadStock began earlier this year at our 500-acre farm in Shoreham, VT, where we commissioned an 18-wheeler ‘Rolling Rickhouse’, which would make its way from Vermont to California and back on an epic 6,000-mile journey. Upon completion of the RoadStock Rolling Rickhouse, half of the future RoadStock whiskey was transferred into Bordeaux blend casks from Jordan Winery that would make the full 6000-mile round trip journey providing ample time for the whiskey to steal the nuanced complexity from these incredible casks. The other half of the whiskey would remain in their virgin oak original barrels until we made it to California. After weaving along the historic Route 66, the RoadStock Rolling Rick House headed north to Firestone Walker Brewing Company in Paso Robles, CA. where the balance of the whiskey was transferred into Firestone’s Imperial Stout, Imperial Blonde Ale and Experimental Ale barrels to finish on the long journey back to Vermont. When we returned to the farm we knew we had something truly exceptional on our hands. So we blended and bottled WhistlePig Roadstock Rye and even created a rubber tire topper to commemorate the journey. This 86-proof, hand-crafted stunner sings with a symphony of raspberry jam, brown sugar, and toasted cedar. Buckle up, because it’s about to take your tastebuds on an unforgettable ride. NOSE Ripened red berry fruit, with hints of maple syrup and marmalade. PALATE Brown sugar and mocha heightened in the presence of stewed fruit and barrel spice. FINISH Roasted malt, tanned leather and fresh cracked pepper.
